The Dairy Dilemma – Teacher’s Page
To support “A Dairy Dilemma,” teachers will find a downloadable PDF below. This document includes resources for a value-added lesson extension. This extension unit uses “A Dairy Dilemma” as a jumping off point for students to learn more about how value-added products can increase marketability of raw agricultural commodities. Just as the Argyle Cheese Farmer uses Ideal Dairy Farms’ milk to make yogurt, smoothies, and cheese, students will learn how to make four dairy food products, then create a marketing plan and pitch to make their product the next feature item.
All resources, discussion questions, recipes, labs, and materials lists are included in document. Most labs can be completed in the normal classroom setting; however, one requires a stovetop or hotplate and another requires a freezer.
